Riverbend Home Educators had the honor to spend Grandparents Day with the residents of Blountstown Health and Rehab Center.
Service projects are near and dear to my heart; especially those involving the elderly or children. In addition, I think it is so important to instill a love of community service in our children. So I was thrilled when the opportunity arose to spend Grandparents Day with these wonderful seniors in our community.
Our children showed such compassion throughout our visit and we are very proud of them. And I think they were surprised at just how much fun they had as well.
We jumped right in with games and coloring. Everyone played happily for about an hour when the staff served brownies and ice cream. Then, the residents and children paired up for several spontaneous games of balloon toss.
Before long it was time to go. Colored pictures were given with love, hugs were exchanged, and we tidied up and left. But I think it was so wonderful for all involved. I look forward to going back to visit the residents in February, if not before.
Until our next adventure,
